Fresco

Dr. B has discussed the past few times the mechanics of fresco painting. First a rough brown coat of plaster has to be applied. Then the under painting or cartoon like sketch comes next. Then the wet, moist painting layer is applied. This layer is permanent once it dries, and the only way to fix the painting if it is messed up is to rip out the mistake and start over on that part. It is best to not make a mistake since the process is so time-consuming. The following is a video of the plastering process of a fresco wall.
