Elevator Friends

In King Lear, Kent is seen as Lear's right hand man. Even after Lear banishes Kent from the kingdom, Kent remains loyal and ultimately finds a way to stay with Lear. Kent is faithful, and it is seen that his opinion and judgment carry a lot of weight. Luckily, for Lear Kent has a sound mind and advises him to make wise decisions. What if it was different? What sort of situation would Lear be in? A lesson can be learned from the relationship between Lear and Kent. The people that we surround ourselves with have a great influence on the way we act and the decisions we make, whether we realize it or not. Their personalities and ways begin to rub off on us. Friends are like elevator buttons; they can either take you up or bring you down. Choose wisely.
